Founded in 2009 by Jason Flatt, Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Rescue, Inc. is a volunteer-based 501(c)3 rescue and community outreach organization. Our mission is to promote responsible pitbull ownership, provide breed education, combat pet overpopulation, fight unfair legislation, find qualified homes for sound pitbull-type dogs and other dogs in need in Georgia, and help people and animals within our community.
FTTF is based out of Dallas, Georgia with over 50 foster homes around Metro Atlanta. Though we specialize in helping pitbull-type dogs, we have helped many other breeds as well as other animals, including cats, pigs, donkeys, horses, and even a vulture! As the only pitbull rescue left in the Atlanta area, we work tirelessly to rescue as many pitbulls as we can from heavily over-crowded animal control facilities, which are typically mostly filled with pitbulls due to irresponsible ownership and backyard breeding.
We are currently in the middle of planning and raising funds for our Capital Campaign for the next phase of FTTF: building our first, one-of-a-kind rescue facility. We have purchased 46 acres in Rockmart, Georgia and are finalizing plans with our architect, hoping to break ground by Fall 2022.
